David Birnbaum grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He uses a wheelchair (auto accident at age 19). Although he covers his disability in a fresh, funny way, it’s certainly not his only domain.  His easy-going recollections of traveling, his corporate job, dating and observations about the news make him a very accessible comedian and humor writer.

David has been performing standup comedy regularly at New York comedy clubs since 2004.    David features at Governor’s in Long Island and does regular spots at Standup-NY.  He also performs in New York City at Caroline’s, Broadway Comedy, Comic Strip, Gotham and Laugh Lounge. 

He has been on the road at Northern Eastern University (Boston), as well as clubs in Chicago (Zanies), Tampa (Improv, Side-Splitters), Los Angeles (Belly Room) and San Francisco (Cobb’s).

  • He was a guest on the Howard Stern radio show.
  • His humor essays have appeared in:
    The New York Times Magazine, Village Voice, The New York Press
    and in a college text book, Patterns of Essay Writing that included David Sedaris and Steve Martin.

  • By day, David directs creative & technical teams that develop corporate training, web portals, internet & intranet sites, Online learning and eLearning. He’s also skilled at SEO & SEM.
